MILLER MANOR HOMES
Ask Maureen Miller to pin point her fisrt love, and she'll get straight to the point: art. While she was an English major in college and founded an art gallery early in life, Maureen found that an interesting side job began to develop from this business venture. Her friends would approach with fabric swatches and ask which one was best-suited for a new chair. With an artist's eye, she insisted that such a choice couldn't be made without knowing the furniture piece's surroundings.
Maureen's ownership of the art gallery - and informal interior design patrons - continued until she reached a place where owning an art gallery was no longer conducive to her family life. So she decided to return to school and began acquiring licenses and accreditations; this process had a momentum all its own, and today, she is a self-proclaimed "one-stop-shop" for building a residence. As the president of Miller Manor Homes, Maureen applies her expertise to the home's design, interior design and construction. After more than three decades in the industry, Maureen's stature has grown, and she proudly became the first female builder published in Austin's Builder Architect Magazine for her work on a poured concrete home.
Even after more than a decade of building homes in Austin, Maureen says that at heart, Austin is still a cozy little city. The charm of the area, paired with a strong university system and an artfully centric heartbeat, has offered Maureen more opportunities than she originally imagined. Having relocated to be near family, she fully expected that her expansive home building adventures, which began in 1973, may have reached an end. As it turns out, several of her clients moved to Austin as well, igniting her firm, and simultaneously the referrals for her expertise began steadily pouring in.
